Antonio Cancelliere is Professor of Hydraulics and Maritime Constructions and Hydrology at the Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture at Catania University, Italy.

His main research has focussed on the application of statistical and stochastic methods in hydrological modelling. Current research questions include:

• how to incorporate non stationarity concepts in traditional hydrological stochastic modelling of extreme events?
• how to extend regional and continental scale analysis of droughts in order to take into account non stationarity?
• how to improve the predictive and forecasting skills of shallow landslides models?
